Why is it that when i chew gum i burp?

Everytime I chew gum I randomly start to burp. I don't know if its burping for sure but this weird sound comes from my throat and I cant control it. What could be the problem and how can I stop it form happening?

  1. You'll probably find that when you're swallowing saliva, you're swallowing a fair bit of air along with it.

    Try chewing with your mouth closed, and making sure your mouth isn't dry.


  2. What happens is you swallow air when you are chewing gum.  I suspect the amount of air swallowed varies from one person to another.  When I chewed gum a lot I probably took in less air and passed it all the way through to the other end.

    I think burping would have been the better alternative had I had the choice.

  3. You are probably swallowing air. Chew your gum slowly.

  6. Try closing your mouth when you chew so you dont swallow to much air. If you have to much gum and you swallow to much air you can even get a sore tummy.
