Why is it that when someone complains about big oil, someone brings up plastic like it's good thing?

Plastic is in your computer you use to ask these questions. Yes... so many it out of something else.

I don't think the general population of America is willing to see the truth about the products we use every day. All I can say is plastic is petroleum based and there should be more warnings about Poly vinyl chloride and the effects it has on people when it is heated. It is toxic, but hey so id the fluoride they put in our water supposedly for our health!

Plastics are made from a number of different feed stocks, but mostly from various hydrocarbons.  Now, if these hydrocarbons were not used to produce plastic they would probably be burned releasing additional CO2 into the atmosphere.  When they are converted to plastics, however, the carbon is fixed and sequestered and thus not released into the atmosphere.  So, using more plastics can be thought of as a way to reduce green house gas emissions.

Because plastic is a good thing.  Or would you rather go back to having needles the size of daggers, no bulletproof vests for police officers, and a host of other things that only plastic can do.
