Why is it that when you go to the doctor for heavy periods?

they always ask you if you're sexually active?? what does that have to do with your periods being too heavy??? I hate when they ask me that.

  1. So that they can give you the right treatment and asking if you are pregnant is the first step in determining whether your heavy period could be a sign of miscarriage.

    Otherwise, they are not really interested in what you get up to in your free time!


  2. it has nothing to do with your period but i'm guessing its just another thing to check in with your health

  3. I suppose just to rule out STDs playing a part. The pill is also great for lightening periods so they may have been considering that as an option if you were sexually active.

They ask you because they need to know your sexual history in order to prescribe anything.  Especially for gynecological reasons like your period.  You s*x life can alter you period, and can affect how you react to medications.  The medication can affect someone's s*x life as well.  If you are sexually active there's a whole string of questions they will ask you pertaining to you problem.  If you're not you can avoid that altogether.  

    It's a question about your body that's important for the doctor to know.  Why make a fuss about it?  Gynecological problems and treatments are often s*x related.  Stop throwing a fit.  I don't see why it's necessary to rebel against a simple health question.
