Why is it that when you take the beliefs of theists a bit farther than they like, they decide you're trolling?

Isn't that a failure on their part to believe in their own stories? For example, if I ask the Christians if I should just pray for my feverish kid they think I'm trolling instead of thinking that it's probably a pretty good idea. And if I say to a Muslim that fly's wings are the answer to all their contagious medical woes they think I'm trolling.

it's not "exaggerating or misstating" someone's beliefs when you talk about praying for sick kids instead of getting treatment, because there is a real religion that practices this..

Well, there are a lot of egos wrapped up in this stuff.  My thought is they know how ridiculous it sounds but feel they must cling to their beliefs because it defines a part of themselves they feel they can't be without.  It's the same reason there's the need for constant validation from others who believe similarly about any particular subject.  

And Christians aren't the only ones who do it.  Not by a long shot...

When you go out of your way to try to make fun of others by over exaggerating or misstating their beliefs then I think its fair to assume you are a troll.

Why do people feel the need to mock others just for pleasure?  What kind of a person gets pleasure out of that?

Sarcasm and joking are one thing.  Thats fair and can be fun, but when it appears the persons true intent is just to bash and make fun of, then its not funny and its just rude.
