Why is it that when you use bleach on a scrubber it doesnt turn white but everything else does?

  1. Bleach is an oxidizing agent, and it breaks up stains by oxidizing or breaking up the bonds of chromophores, which are molecules or parts of molecules which impart color to the substance. Bleach is not necessarily able to attack every molecule, and if the chromophores are protected behind a barrier of other molecules, the bleach won't be able to attack it. So bleach is effective against stains on cloth, but not necessarily against polymer bristles.
