  5. it is not against the law to smile on your passport photographs,

    i certainly do smile on mine. it has not created any sort of problems ......why should it?

  6. Because they like a natural expression (you don't go through half a dozen checkpoints at the airport grinning like crazy) and it's easier to do a check between the two.

    Also it throws off the biometrics. They measure the face and gaps between areas (eg sides of the face, between the eyes, between nose and lip, angles) and your face. If the passport photo is off then the biometrics recorded will be off as well and it will be harder to verify.

    *grins* Besides when you smile you get more wrinkles. Passport officers like your pictures to look as wrinkle free as possible.

  7. For your information facial expression changes your true face value.
