  1. i know what you mean, the price of fuel is getting beyond a joke! unfortunately it's essential for today's life, and the government knows it, so do the fuel companies, they have us by the proverbials

  2. Because smokers are always the victims!

If they're not moaning about having to stand outside the pub/office/house to fulfil their craving, they're moaning about not being allowed to drive while smoking or the price of a packet of f**s (UK user so not a reference tom homosex) going up by a few pence.

And yes we do inhale petrol (fumes), just it doesn't smell as bad

  3. Its because the news makes a bigger deal about smoking, than they do with petrol. They don't tell you the fuels burn and then come out your exhaust, which you inhale in the air you breath. They tell you about people smoking, and people breathing in that air.

  4. JoKeReSs are you saying i'm fat?!?

  5. when people cannot function because of the price of petrol the government will do something about it.

At the moment, many people moan about it but it doesn't stop them doing stuff, including unnecessary driving. So while they moan, the govermment just see people has having a good winge.

I remember during the last fuel disputes there were petitions being signed at Blue Water shopping centre. Something along the lines of " We, the undersigned, believe that the current taxation on petrol is undermining our quality of life and restricing out essential day to day use of cars"

It was a joke, being there to sign the petition prooved that they still have money to spend on unnecessary journeys.

When we reduce our driving habits and prove that we cannot afford the tax, something will be done. But until then, 50 million car journeys every day show the goverment the price of petrol is not really hurting us - we are to blame.

  6. Smoking kills, filling up the car with petrol doesn't

  7. There is no point, they won't listen.Britain is only a small country with a small fraction of the world's cars but we pay more for our petrol than most other countries. The government are trying to pander to the 'greenies' even though Britain's effect on  the environment is miniscule in comparison with the USA and China. The USA pay MUCH less for their fuel (I don't know about China)....WHY???

  8. AAAaaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!!

It drives me nuts!  if we want to kill ourselves with tobacco then it's our look out, but to put petrol up around a quid a litre really gets my goat - it wouldn't be so bad if there were decent public transport services, or if any of the money were spent on improving them, but to have to pay such high tax on fuel AND such extortionate road tax is a disgrace!  This country is beginning to SERIOUSLY p**s me off - and I used to be so patriotic!

  9. A very good point CHOPPER,petrol is around x pounds a gallon,(i just cannot bring myself to say it) BUT,even worse is the price of BEER or coloured water as it is now.Beer is 16 pounds a gallon, you certainly could not afford to run a car on it.I feel a lot better now i,ve stopped smoking.

  10. The two are inextricably linked!

The majority are against smoking. It's getting banned evrywhere, so people give it up.

Sadly, the government want the revenue to squander, so revenue from tobacco goes down, tax on petrol goes up to cover.

I feel sorry for smokers who also drive, they get hit twice!!

  11. But they do.  The news had quite a few vox pops today, onlt the 'greens'  in favour (do they cycler and wqalk evrywhere??).

The thing that annoys me is that VAT is added to the tax.  So we are paying loads of tax on each litre.  Tax on Tax!!! Ridiculous.  Without the tax it would cost abot 32p a litre.  Rip Off Britain again........ role on the general election

  12. cos you don't inhale petrol...

    well, I don't anyways..

  13. Because the people bothered by the smoking law changes are being fuelled by their intense nicotine cravings kicking in and making them all feel cranky!

    Edit

Many thanks to the cranky smoker who just gave me a thumbs down....my point has been proven! Just go get one of your older friends to buy some cigarettes for you and go stand in the rain to smoke it!! hahaha

  14. Who's shouting about smoking?

  15. Allo Chopper. Haven't been on in a while, so howdy! =D

Smoking kills and harms us, and as we all know, human beings are selfish, arrogant @rses.

The planet is our vessle (so to speak) and not many of us care about it, and even if we do, we are so god d**n lazy that the majority of us do not get of our oversized and evergrowing bottoms to do something about it.

We only care about number 1 (Ourselves)

                            X-x-X Luv Ya's! X-x-X

  16. Because many people are more aware about the smoking thing for it is more visible in the society than petrol going up.

  17. BECAUSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WITH THE PRICE OF GAS GOING UP.......

BUT YOU CAN AND WILL DIE BY SMOKING OR BEING AROUND SOMEONE THAT SMOKES.
