Example, a video game for Playstation 3 is 44.99...but not just that, many other things. Is it greed? I mean why cant it ever be 44.00?????

  1. 44.99 is 45 ... This visual trick works very well.. 499 sounds under 500, when in fact it is 500.

People just tend to round things down all the time. Get used to it.

  2. Its a marketing technique in business to sell goods. Its pychologically more appealing to price a product worth $45 to $44.99. Would u pay $45 or $44.99. Probably what ever's cheaper.

  3. It's a pricing trick that goes way back. The price is really $45, but to make it more attractive to the eye, they put $44.99. It's basically the same amount, but the eye is drawn to the lower 44. It seems silly, but it really works and it's been in use for decades.

  4. It wouldn't be $44 it would be $45. To somepeople $44.99 looks cheaper than $45. I don't know if it actually does but thats the logic of it.

  5. Where it really pisses me off is gas prices.

9/10th of a penny for every gallon PLUS the margin of pump error allowed by law gives gas stations LOTS of extra income a year.

Yet, if we complain, it will be 10/10ths, so why shot ourselves in the foot to fix a hang nail?

  6. its mind over matter, they THINK u dont see the cents add on there but it adds up for them, i have no diea why but the stores do it not the company that makes the product, cuase the store has to make there profit... just like all that c**p u see on tv 19.95 just sell it for 20 dollars lol it makes no since to me either

  7. Its a selling technique to make the price appear "cheaper" than it actually is, thus attracting more buyers.

  8. Just a basic marketing tactic...it actually works quite well. It makes things appear cheaper.
