Why is it thundering in the morning? I thought it only thunders during night!?

Right now it is 9:31. It started thundering at 9ish. I have never experienced this before in the morning....Im scared!

Thunder has nothing to do with the time of day, it's all to do with how much humidity has built up throughout a period of time. If it's warm, then clouds over but remains warm, this will cause any evaporating water to be trapped underneath the blanket cloud, meaning that the thunder can happen at any time of day, or night.

So don't worry :)

It can thunder any time of day or night.  Just depends when the cool front goes through.  To keep track of those storms put this site in your favorites list:  http://www.intellicast.com   Set it up for your local radar loop.  Don't be scared.

thunder is caused by lightning. its because the lightning is causing a sonic shock wave.
