  1. Kinda contradicts a democratic society somewhat!  The French and Russian revolutions had the right idea about their Royal families.  I supposedly live in a democratic (LOL) country or so were told at every opportunity.  Why then is there such rich people in those huge castles ruling over us and the very poor at the other side.   I don't understand peoples acceptance of them.  Why should a silly privileged man with a big nose and silly ears, who has out of touch ideas about people and society  have the authority and influence over me just because he is born in to a rich social dysfunctional family. By the way whom are supposed to be an example to us all (LOL).  If this was a democratic country there would be a less division between the billionaires and the poverty and we would certainly not have a privileged royal family.  The Queen is one of the richest women in the world.  If she were to give up half her wealth there would be no poverty in the UK.

  2. we are subjects.  but...not only subject but HER subjects. how much control is that?

  3. it is out of respect for the Queen, if you mean canada, it was given to england a few hundred years ago by the french because they seemed more interested in sugar producing islands..i think, all they wanted to keep was the fishing rights in atlantic canada. the queen then built a wonderful relationship with aboriginals that was started by the french and helped canada become what it is today, so instead of acting like crazy yanks and starting a war we embraced her rule, she sent us free stuff when we needed it and sent back up when them crazy yanks invaded canada (yes they did) so we went and burnt down the whitehouse unfortunately for them greedy yanks...and is why we are so d**n great today!! (all the problems were the churches fault not hers)

    LONG LIVE THE QUEEN

  4. A monarch doesn't own YOU or your property. You are thinking emperor or absolute monarch, which doesn't really exist in the world anymore.

There is a difference between empire and (constitutional) monarchy.

I'd consider a "subject" anybody that works for, or is forced to work for somebody (i.e. an emperor).  Everybody that lives under the territory that the monarch/emperor rules over is called a "citizen".

  5. well if you wanna be technical we are all subjects of her royal majesty!

  6. British people are not called citizens. They called subjects

  7. because weve lost the freedom of speach

  8. I assume you are from England.  Great Britain is a constitutional monarchy.  This means that although the Queen is the Head of State, the Prime Minister is the head of government.  Your legislature, who makes the laws, are elected directly by the people and thus the people decide on the way their government is run and thus are citizens.  When the Queen makes her annual report during the opening of Parliament, I still hear her refer to the people as subjects but they are called citizens by the members of Parliament.
