  1. I was eating when you asked me this.

    -I have spoken.

  2. Because people see you and think "Hey, this guy looks like an awesome person to talk to!"

  3. may be you are very attractive when you eat

  4. It's easier for people to control a conversation when your mouth is full.

All about control. To make audible sounds is also an action.

  5. Because people are annoying.

    Duh.

  6. Because they don't have anything to eat.

  7. It's unfortunate that society's manners have eroded to the point they have.  It used to be, when you sat down to eat your meal, people would leave you alone so you could - oh my gosh! - eat in peace while your food was still hot/cold.  Now, people seem to think that whatever they have to say is just SO important that it has to be said immediately, that they either don't realize they interrupt your meal, or they just don't care.

I've gotten to the point with some people/situations where I will just tell whoever that "Hey, I'm eating here. I'll talk to you later. Unless it's really important, I'd like to finish my meal while it's still hot/cold.  Thank you."

Some people don't realize just how rude they can be.
