Much of what I found used gender-neutral language, referring to litigants as  spouse, person, etc.

Of course, if you dig , you can always find evidence to support your personal agenda...but cherry picking isn't a valid form of reporting research.

I have to pay my ex 3 times as much as anyone else in my unit pays their ex for child support. I pay for the kids, and I pay for him to own a nice car. It's fabulous. Woohoo.

Because the large majority of the time the man is the one who has to pay.  Alimony generally isn't given anymore, but child support is.  Unless the woman is a horrid person, the mother is likely to get the children at least 50/50 and often child support.
