Why is it when I watch my blu-ray I don't get 7 .1 speakers?

I have a Denon avs888 rec and a polk speaker system all speakers work with my HD satilite. center, front , surround, and back surround. But when I watch a Bluy ray on my panasonic I only get 5.1 no back surround . My sat is hooked to the rec also the blu-ray is hooked to the rec and the rec is hooked to TV all using HDMI cables. Can any one help ME THANKS

  1. Most Blu-ray discs don't have a 7.1 track on them, also this receiver wouldn't decode those tracks anyway because it doesn't have Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio.


  2.      The problem may comes from your audio setting on Blu-ray player. If you have the newest Panasonic you have to set Bitstream, otherwise you set Linear Lpcm.You should let us know the model number of your Panasonic and your set up.

  3. you need to have a 7.1 track for 7.1 output (dolby EX) ..if you have pro logic settings on the reciever..try using that for sound through the surround back speakers.
