  1. NASCAR races show some of the most dangerous human traits of driving a motor vehicle and it happens with all of us who drive.

The object of the race is 1) to win; 2) to get as many points as possible by leading, completing laps, etc...And to do this, the driver must be very aggressive and assertive - a fierce competitor...He doesn't have to think too much because there are others who do that for him - crew chief, spotters, other crews...His job is to put his right foot to the firewall and keep it there.

Some of these attributes are seen on the streets and highways...At stop lights, we race each other across the intersection - so I can make the next light before you ..On the highway, we take the #1 lane and push it up to 90+ mph because I'm in a hurry and I can...I got 8 cylinders and 300 horses under the hood so get outta my way!..Oops..There's my offramp...Let me through...Sorry about that!...Don't have time to wait in line...Suckers!!!...HaHa!

The combination of our impatience and competitive nature plus the need to be in front of everybody else causes all of us - including NASCAR drivers - to make dangerous and ill-thought decisions that result in the crashes on the track and the carnage and loss of life on the streets.

  2. It just like the Superbowl and the Budweiser beer commercial, at halftime or after the game everyone goes out to buy a Budweiser, after the NASCAR race everyone goes out and tries to act like one of the drivers.

  3. Who says we do? Please, share with us the information, and its source. Or are you just trying to anger NASCAR fans?

  4. We do?

  5. I don't even know when NASCAR starts. Maybe it would help if less people did. We'd see less accidents. LOL!

    Hope this helps - Matt
