Why is it when i'm in a chatroom this girl keeps talking about herself?

Everything is "im getting a tatoo" or "i want to do this" and it's never about anybody else. I'm always asking someone how was their day or something like that. Maybe i start to talk about myself a lot but then i stop to ask the other person questions about them. Why are some people selfish?
