Why is it when i erase my history files , there are still listings when i go to the address drop down?

Those are just glimpses, click 'clear search history' in drop down address bar.

You need to turn off Auto Complete or clear it. Auto Complete saves your searches and addresses and things like that. Here's how to clear it:

For Internet Explorer: Click on Tools. Then Internet Options. Click on Content and then Auto Complete. Then click on Clear Forms. This will erase your search history. If you don't want things showing up again in your search history then deselect the Auto Complete options at the top. Be sure to select apply or ok at the bottom.

i have widows vista and when you press clear all history it dosn;t leave anything behind
