Question:

Why is it when people on this site ask whether God exists?

that Atheists flock to answer that God doesn't exist, that there's no such thing. The way I see it, if someone asks whether God exists, they must not have had any experience in their life indicating that God exists. The only appropriate way to answer then, is in the affirmative, with a expression of why the answerer believes God exists. You get me? The person who asks this already has no real indication that God exists (in his/her life), and so answering no achieves nothing. Only those who affirm that God exists, and can state why they hold this view, are truly qualified to answer this. After all, it is impossible to prove that God doesn't exist, as much as it is impossible to "prove" he exists. Asking the question "Does God exist" is tantamount to demanding evidence he exists (which is the positive assertion). Cool your jets atheists!

  1. You are wrong.

  2. The way I see it, this is an open forum, and anyone who wishes to answer any question is certainly welcome to do so.

Now, the question was, "Does God exist?"

To answer only in the affirmative does nothing for anyone. In order to truly form a reasonable opinion, one must take in answers from all points of view. That includes the inevitable "No, God does not exist."

Now, the best answer to that particular question would be one that offers similarities between the Bible and other ancient myths, inconsistencies, facts supporting evolution, etc.

In that way, the asker would be able to reach a  truly informed conclusion.

  3. Because they are afraid there really is a God and they dont want to go to h**l alone.

  4. Many atheists are frightened, angry people. They might seem OK on the outside, but they take every opportunity to shower hatred on others - especially on Christians.

    Some find them pathetic.

    Some call them intellectually dishonest.

    Some say they need love.

One thing is true for most of them: They aren't as happy as they would like you to believe. Love them. And pray.

  5. Because that questions is basically asking if we believe in him or not. If I don't believe in him, why would I answer with yes?

  6. thats what this site is all about =asking= so do he or don't he     who the h**l knows

  7. You forgot GOD IS A MYTH.  Geesh, and after all the work I did answering questions with it just so it could appear in a question like this, and you go and leave it off.  Thanks a lot for nothing!

  8. A yes or no question has two possible answers.

  9. Your observations are illogical. How can giving a wrong answer purely to be positive be the only acceptable answer. If the question is "does god exist?" then the answer logically has to be "no". Logically it is bound to be the case that the non-existence of "gods" cannot be proven, since things which do not exist do not leave proof of not existing.

  10. After all, it is impossible to prove that God doesn't exist, as much as it is impossible to "prove" he exists.

after all, it is impossible to prove that invisible space hoppers dont exist, as much as it is impossible to prove they exist

so, in your world, invisible space hoppers might exist

    your world is stupid

  11. people have had experiences that lead them to believe leprechauns exist.

  12. Hmmm....the problem is that its "NEVER" been officially confirmed that he or she exists...so until that day,we will have to have our own opinion...the danger comes from trying to preach it to others?...

  13. Many come here to mock believers.  They are blinded.  Many will not believe.  Their choice for their future.

  14. I get what you are saying.  Since no can really say if God exists or not,  it is a bit premature to say that God doesn't exist. In fairness it is also premature to say that God does exist too.

A person can say that there is no evidence of God's existence, yet another person can say different. The problem is that each person cannot agree on what criteria qualifies for existence.  No one really knows if God exist or not, to make a firm absolute statement for or against isn't really all that smart.

  15. I've never heard(read) the word atheist as much in my life, as I have in the last few weeks since I have been on here.

Why do you looney's say it all the time ? "hi, i'm an atheist". or, "well i'm an atheist".

you are obsessed with something that you don't believe in! ( is it a hobby or what ?).

Believe in or dont believe in whatever you want. Just please give it a break and get over yourselves.

  16. So, basically, that entire paragraph was pointless except, "Only those who affirm God exists, and can state why they hold this view, are truly qualified to answer"

You're saying, no atheist is right?

Well, that may be true. But neither are you.

  17. Because of things like this answer to "Where does freedom of speech end in religion?"

    "it doesn't.

I have every right to talk of Jesus as much as others don't.

Even in government and school. There is no mention of separation in the Constitution"

That person is saying, loud and clear, that they have the right to shove their c**p down our throats.  As I see it, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.  Unless you admit to being a hypocrit which I seriously doubt you'll do

  18. If somebody asks whether God exists, Atheists arent allowed to answer now?  I guess only Christians are allowed to answer because everybody else that doesnt believe in the christian god are going to hellll, right?  It must be nice being in the 85% majority of the US where you can actually tell Atheists that your thoughts don't matter and not be labeled as a hate-mongerer.

  19. So, only people who have had tea parties with big foot can affirm or even respond to the question of his existence?

  20. What is the purpose of this question? Atheists will always be both quick and numerous to answer this question, and they have as much right as any other faith.

Moreover, your logic is flawed. I lack the enthusiasm to explain why.

  21. I believe that a God exists. If one were to look at the orderly and fined-tuned nature of the Universe, then would it make perfect sense to believe that it was not generated by random chance but designed by Someone.

Now of course who that someone is, is a matter of personal opinion.

  22. atheism has almost become a religion itself.

  23. There is no evidence that any god exists, so no one has any to offer.

If someone asks they should be given answers from both sides, not just a Christian testimony.

  24. I answer that god doesn't exist because god doesn't exist.

  25. That is a yes or no question, as such you can't assume what the questioner's own views on the matter might be because you can't know who's views they are interested in.

A religious person may well want to know why other people believe god exists, or indeed why atheists don't believe it, they may want answers from a wide variety of people including those who already share their belief, but perhaps for different reasons.

In the end, if a question is asked, anyone drawn to answer it should do so, it's more interesting that way:)

  26. Oh yes, of course - all questions should only be answered with the responses that you personally agree with. It makes perfect sense.

  27. You want to ask a question but you only want one point of view?

  28. Its far easier to prove that there is no god than it is to prove there is one. Just a basic fact of evidence my old mate.

  29. I have no experiece of this thing you call god and have to surmise that he does not exist.

"The way I see it, if someone asks whether God exists, they must not have had any experience in their life indicating that God exists. The only appropriate way to answer then, is in the affirmative..."

What drugs does your god give you that you can spout that shite and live with yourself.

  30. Thats because God doesnt exist

  31. I don't know if you meant this, but I think the asker is trying to tell us that if the person is questioning whether God exists or not they therefore have never had an 'experience' with God and have the opinion that he doesn't exist or they wouldn't be asking.

    Am I close?

So, we as atheist/agnostics should not voice our opinions bc we share the same opinion as the asker who asks "does god exist."

    Right?

So you're saying it'd be like having someone say "Do blue eggs exist?" Apparently they think blue eggs DON'T exist, or else they wouldn't be asking.

I agree. If that's what you were getting at. And I'm an atheist.
