  1. When you pack to leave, you actually take time packing and try to fit everything. When you pack to return, you're carless and just throw everything in. I mean, at least that's what I do.

  2. What a good question!  And it is so true.  If you are like me, when you pack to go on a trip, you plan and organize and sort things, and take several days to make sure you have packed everything you need.  Clothes are all neatly ironed and folded.  So it all fits snugly in your lugggage, and most likely your luggage is quite full when it is packed neatly.  On the return trip there is laundry and clothes is no longer folded neatly and everything has been moved around and you probably bought at least a couple of things even though you think you didn't and you don't pack until the last minute the night before your flight when you are tired because you want to enjoy every last second of the trip -so the space in your suitcase just doesn't seem to be enough on the home trip.  At least, that's my take on it.

  3. You pack clean stuff nicer and neater so it's not messed up when you get there.  When it's dirty you usually just shove everything back.
