  1. You use your tongue to form words and sounds. Without it you wouldn't be able to speak.


  2. If your tongue didn't move then you would not be able to form words.

  3. It helps articulate the sounds.  The sounds come from your vocal chords, but your lips, tongue and teeth help make the sounds sound the way they do.  Try to say "S" without touching your teeth together.  Try to say "L" without touching your tongue to your teeth.  Try to say "B" without touching your lips together.  Try to say "D" without moving your tongue at all.

  4. Your tongue is kind of VITAL to language and speaking. My sister is a speach therapist and has talked about the different parts needed for speaking....the tongue rates highly!
