  1. The same reason you should hang up your cell and drive.   Most people can't concentrate on more than two things at a time, and if your driving, and searching for an Address, Your using up those two things.

  2. Mental retardation?

It is to remove a distraction.  Even though the audio distraction has no direct link to your visual sense........you are concentrating on 2 things....driving and looking for the address.  removing the audio input does help a little!

  3. So you can hear yourself think ?

Actually, it could be that the radio is a distraction.

  4. This is the best question I think anyone has ever asked!!! I think the music breaks your concentration on the numbers... Numbers are an interesting thing because there patterns are easily confused! So in order for your brain to sort and match, it can only handle those thoughts rather the numerical timing in music!

Yea I pulled that one out of nowhere! Lol!

  5. to allow yourself to focus 100%

  6. Concentration. I also usually turn down the fan of the airconditioner or heater to eliminate as much background noise as possible.

It's a matter of eliminating distractions when you need to pay attention to something.

  7. Because the voice on the radio is telling you to go farther ahead when in fact you should turn back.
