  1. Mike is correct, although the reason isn't entirely because of the movement of warm/cold air masses.  The other reason is that a shower/thunderstorm will cool the atmosphere.  Since cool air is denser than warm air, the cool air will rush outwards in front of a storm creating what is know as a gust front, which preceeds most thunderstorms.  In the strongest of storms, gusts fronts can be strong enough to cause damage.

  2. well because the rain that was some whare els is coming and that rain cant move by its self so there has to be wind to push it over here so thats why...

  3. the outflow boundary of storms produce a wind that cools the temperature really fast

  4. It isn't always, it can start raining without wind, but commonly rain is caused by cold air driving into warm air and pushing it up so it chills and drops rain.  Normally the cold air  is pushed by a low pressure center which is moving air and the movement results in wind.

If the pressure zones are moving slowly, there is little wind and the thrust is low, so you get no real storms.  If a warm front that is very humid move in over cold air, it rises in a long flat slope and may rain when the moisture gets high enough.
