  1. Because people who are politically anti-abortion (and not morally anti-abortion, because these are two very different things), are for lack of a better term, idiots, and this is why:

Making abortion illegal does not make it go away. All it does is:

*make women who are deadset on aborting either seek out a back-alley abortion where often times not only the fetus is ended, but they are, too

*travel to place where it is legal

*abandon the baby once it is born. Do you think there are too many babies being left in dumpsters right now? Think how many we would have if we made women carry unwanted fetuses.

*overcrowd orphanages/foster care systems. When Romania made abortion illegal, they saw the number of infants being abandoned and handed over to orphanages increase 9 fold. There is now a whole generation of teens/early 20 -somethings who grew up in orphanages with minimal care, not developing a relationship with a parental figure. They call them "the lost generation."

Also, the US foster care system already has around 5 million adoptable children without permanent homes. Think how many more it would have if abortion were illegal.

    The issue is government intervention.

  2. it's not wrong. every person (male or female) is entitled to their opinion.

however, i personally believe that only women should make a decision regarding abortions; since they are the only ones having, or not having, them.

  3. It's not.  Feminism has granted us the ability to have our own beliefs, express them and practice them as long as it does not harm anyone.

  4. Depends on the party!

  5. It's not wrong at all.  It's only wrong in the eyes of Feminists.

  6. It's not exactly wrong. I understand that it comes from deeply-held convictions.

It just bothers me a little that a woman would take the position of not trusting other women to make these decisions for themselves, as though if abortion were totally on-demand, all women would just line up and use it as a primary method of birth-control. All of them except for the "holier than thou" woman politician, as if only she understands the gravity of such a decision.

I take it you've probably got Sarah Palin in mind with this question since it's a pretty hot topic, her just being picked as Mccain's running mate. I've heard the story too. She was pregnant. The baby was probably going to have down syndrome and she chose to carry to term.

But that's the point! She CHOSE to carry to term. The fact that it was a choice was what gave her actions the moral dignity they had. I just don't understand why she and other pro-life women would want to deprive any of us of the dignity of choice.

  7. Who said it was?

  8. It's not wrong ... it's just that those of us who believe in women's liberation hate to see other women fall victim to the notion that the "pro-life" movement is all about saving babies, when, in reality, it has more to do with controlling women.

If it were about the babies, there would be more done in the way of providing medical care for women (and their unborn children) who need it, making sure that these children aren't born into abusive situations, possibly finding them good adoptive homes, and making sure that they get medical care when they need it. We don't hear about extensive movements to make this happen with "pro-lifers," though ... they seem to want to just see these kids born, and then they're forgotten about.

  9. It's not wrong at all. Everyone has their own opinions and beliefs.
