Why is it..your olympic athelets...?

...why dont our olympic atheletes make millions of dollars like our professional atheletes...we are willing to pay so n so millions of dollars to play on our teams...yet...the real stars...the best in the world..dont get payed millions like the whiners in our professional team sports..now why is that...theres something seriously wrong with that.

It is called Marketing.  After the Olympics, what start power do these athletes have compared to the basketball stars?  The answer is none, so the answer is obvious.  That is the reality, unfortunately.

I have to say I totally agree with you. I wish we would bench half of these cry babies on the pro teams and let others who really want it take over

its all about marketing. owners of basketball, baseball, football teams and etc. make so much money every game so they can afford to pay their athletes so much money. for ppl in the olympics it occurs once every 4 yrs unless u consider smaller competitions.

Because of media presence and exposure. We see professional athletes almost everyday while we see Olympians only every four years.

its about the sport not money. a lot of regular everyday people play sports and every match like their lives depended on it. what motivates them?

anyway, the gold medal is enough. if they got paid for doing this, the stakes will be even higher and can you imagine all the cheating and whining about cheating and any other controversy that would go a long with it? just like the competitive reality shows...so artificial but since it involves a little bit of money the contestants get really emotional and are on the verge of killing each other for it.
