  1. Evry cuisine has its speciality...........in the same way Italian cuisine is special due 2 the Cheese & flour used in it.

  2. Italian Food is Special because the Cuisine of Italy has a long history of Fine Cooking and is the Mother Cuisine of  most all Cuisines.  The Italian Cusine, the food cooked in Italy, or cooked the Italian Way is loved the world over.  The Italian Cuisine has been imported all over the world, from the time of the early Romans. If you read the history of the Cusine of the World you will be surprised to learn that it was the Italians who brought Fine Cuisine to France and to other parts of Europe.  Also some people believe that Marco Polo brought Pasta to Italy, which might have happened, but it was the Italians that brought Pasta the world over. Italians brought their beloved Pasta and their Food to all the countries they immigrated, Brazil, Argentina, the United States, Canada, Australian, etc.

    The Italian Cuisine has a long history and the Food of Italy has always been cooked with a lot of love and passion.  It is known and loved throughtout the world over, and it is the same today as it was hundreds of years ago. Each province of Italy has its Provincial dishes, but basically the cooking is the same from one part of Italy to the next.

    The cusine of Italy uses the freshest ingredients, cooked simplisticly without a lot of complicated steps, unregonizable ingredients and heavy sauces.  It is based on several key elements and basic rules, and some very key ingredients.  Once a person learns the key ingredients and elements to cooking Italian you can cook hundreds of dishes with many and varied ingredients.  The Italian Cuisine is very healthy for you, as it always uses the freshest ingredients, lots of fresh vegetables such as artichokes, eggplants, tomatoes, olives, escarole, swiss chard, green beans, spinich, peas, mushrooms, fruit, meat and fish.  Olive Oil is used in cooking, which is better than for you, than cooking with lots of butter. Many People associate Italian Cooking with lots of Pasta, as it is, but Pasta is not the Main Key Ingredient in Italian Cooking.  It is one of many Key Ingredients.  Italian Cooking is not just about Pasta, but a variety of many ingredients, rice, polenta, lentals, beans, nuts, salamie, cheeses.  It is with these ingredients, that the cusisine becomes special, as the many and the different dishes are made using a great variety of foods... Italian bread and pizza is loved the world over and  are one of many dishes made with the varietied ingredients.  Sauages, salamies, cheese, pickled vegetagles in oil, pasteries, and cakes are some more of the many and loved finished products in Italian Cooking.

    Pasta cooked with the many and varied ingredients is always light, tasty and never complicated.  Even, a Lasgana dish should never be too complicated.    The more complicated a dish is, with tons of ingredients and long, complicated cooking methods,  the more you can be sure it probably is not Authentic Italian Cooking. Many dishes claim to be Italian and are not...You will come to reconginze the fake with the Authentic in no time.

    To Cook Italian get a good Italian Cookbook from a Top Italian Chef, or best ask an Italian Friend,  keep it simple and buy the freshest ingredients and you will be cooking like a pro in no time.. Good Luck

  3. it special b/c its a cuisine that is unique to a certain area, the dishes are made up of what people had available. and there was alot of love for the food.

  4. i guess all foods are special to their people.what is good about Italian food is their products and that it is healthy food-the Mediterranean diet.

  5. I heard this question many times! at first I didn'n know what to answer..then after 15 years of travels and food investigation in about forty countries, I have some good elements to give you:

    Italy has been the centre of interests for about 2000 years!

    Rome had borders in Asia, in Africa, and imported all the best things (food included) available in the Empire;

    the lands in the Italian peninsula are very fertile and give the best products;

    But this is not enough to justify a special mention for the Italian food!

    It's important to note that:

    -  there has always been a "great variety" of food (20 years ago some skandinavian friends had never seen zucchini, artichokes, eggplants..)  and every area has developped a special way of treating it.

    - in the preparation of good food  you need  "fresh,  ingredients" and a lot of time;

    - Italians prefer to eat a small quantity of  well prepared food instead of a large portion of junk food;

    - fresh "wild" fish is very expensive but it's absolutely excellent and you can afford it.. once in a week!

    -Olive oil, Parmigiano Reggiano, pomodoro S. Marzano, Prosciutto di Parma, Mozzarella di Bufala, Pasta di grano duro  are not only "names" of products but are the result of different experiences made by thousands of men who were looking for good things!

    P.S. France cuisine is a "daughter" of "florentine" cuisine since it started when Caterina de' Medici from Florence married the king of france and brought with her some cooks;

    Spain, Portugal, had a different evolution ..under the Arabic domination and you can still find some reminiscences;

    Greece nearly lost its cultural background under the turkish domination.

  6. It isn't. It is just different than western European food.  There are Italian restaurants everywhere too.
