  1. Studies show that areas with higher species counts can better survive natural disasters. Many undiscovered organisms may be potentially valuable for human consumption.

    Think about it this way: life is like that came where you have to remove the wooden pieces. You start with the whole, and remove pieces. Removing the pieces is like an organism going extinct. Then, you remove one organism/piece, and the whole thing comes crashing down.
