Why is mac makeup so darn overpriced?

I got mac shadows for my birthday and they work just as good sally girl shaddows and elf..

just as it would be for abercrombie and stuff

there shirts are made by the same people who make....jcpenney?

and yet people still buy the more expensive.

It is expensive but I think it's great value....it's high quality and it lasts.  At the end of the day you get what you pay for and the little extra you pay for good quality make up far out weighs the cheaper alternatives.

1. I don't think it's overpriced at all! I got a mascara for only $15.

2. ELF is c**p. The stuff I played with when I was three was better than that.

3. I don't know what Sally Girl is, so I can't help you there.

because people think that MAC makeup works the best, so the stores price it high because everyone wants it,

people always want things because they're "brand name" and they can brag about it to all of their friends

personally, i agree with you.. it works just as good as the other that sell for cheaper.

probably coz they pay millions to get their product endorsed by famous people, and on advertising. Also designing of their sleek packaging and prime retail space costs high rental....all these. but of course we can't deny their pigments stay well on our eyes without fading....cheap cosmetics dont have as good pigments that last.

Because it's a name brand and really great quality compared to drugstore stuff. But it's not that pricey compared to Napoleon Perdis, Estee Lauder, Chanel, Lancome, and Dior.  If you can't afford it then simply don't worry about it and continue using the Elf and Sally girl stuff. :)

Well MAC is a prestige line it is sold in a department store and not in a drugstore.  In addition, the quality of the ingredients are probably a little bit better than a sally girl or elf, if those lines work for you and you like them awesome.  But for a prestige line MAC as a great price point, it cost way less than Lancome, Estee Lauder, Chanel.

because it is such a big company and people are willing to pay for more because they see someone with cute makeup and are like "oh who makes that?" and they'll say mac. then the person goes out and buys it without considering other companies

Because it's super popular, so girls are more willing to pay more for it. Plus, it's really good quality, so it probably costs more to make.

if you were you would be spending $35 on chanel mascara.

anyways,

its expensive because of the quality.

everything lasts forever.

you could go through 2 or 3 bottles of l'oreal mascara before you go through one of MAC.

they're eye shadow is fabulous

and so is everything else they have.
