manu is so underated. he scores back to back 40 point games to lead the spurs past 2 of the leages best without timmy D but its over shadowed by lebrons 50 point game that he won against the new york knicks. now i no the spurs would be nothing without timmy but manu really is at least inthe top 5 current players. and no one even talk about kobe who is the most over rated. he is NoTHING without a big man. shaq was totally right, kobe cant do without shaq. or pau or bynom. its the way things are. teams are good if their big men are good.

  1. It's the market he plays in.  You never hear anything about Tim Duncan either and he is one of best playrs in the NBA.  Spurs don't get enough press or don't market their players enough.  Small market.

  2. Yes I agree mostly except that Manu is a top 5.  If Manu is playing in LA, he would be consider one of the best.  In SA, he doesn't have the exposure as he would if he was in LA.

Just look at what Bynum and Gasol playing in LA did for them.  Bynum is now consider a savior and the next great center even when he only average 13 points.

Kobe would be consider a good player anywhere else but in LA, he is the greatest to ever touch a basketball.

  3. Not sure that he is underrated. He's won 3 NBA titles, 1 gold medal in the 2004 Olympics. When the Spurs win, you hear more about Manu, Tim, and Tony. When they don't win, you hear more from the other teams. It's just the truth of the NBA, they follow the super stars more often because of marketing.

  4. Because he plays for the Spurs, a lot of people don't like them.

  5. Manu ain't one of the top 5, sorry to tell you that.

    1. LeBron James

    2. Chris Paul

    3. Dwyane Wade

    4. Kobe Bryant

    5. Dwight Howard

    6th: Tim Duncan

He's a top 10 player if he's playing well but he's aging and his time will get less and less to make way for newer players to get experience, Pop sees the future and is going to build for it, the Spurs dynasty is about over, time for the new wave of Spurs to be trained by the veterans.

But the Spurs LOVE this underrated role they've recieved, it allows them to play consistantly and have no fiascos happen with the press. They just chug along in the season til everyone forgets them and then they pop out and surprise you and by the time you've recovered your down 2-0.
