  1. its noy healthy.... unless ur in pain..... it seams im depressed so i guess its healthy for me. dont worry about it and lite up

  2. Taxes.

  3. id like to know what research it is that you have done (other than smoke it yourself)

  4. The reason marijuana was made illegal was because it is very cheap to grow, commercially, and the cotton farmers lobby was strong enough to convince Congress to outlaw it.

  5. Because people feel that morality can be legislated (which history has proven false time and again), and many people are morally opposed to marijuana.

We spend over 75% of our annual police budget in my city enforcing drug laws.  Meanwhile, violent criminals roam the streets b/c the jails are filled with pot heads.

If drugs were legalized, we'd be better off.  We'd have more police freed up to stop violent crime.  There'd be less violent crime b/c gangs wouldn't have drug profits to defend as they do now b/c it's illegal (and thus, outrageously profitable).  Drugs would be cleaner and less tainted b/c it wouldn't have to be done in shady back alleys.  Sam's club would put Columbian drug cartels out of business.

People have the same irrational fear of marijuana that they did of alcohol during Prohibition.  They think if they legalize drugs that we'll all become raving drug addicts.  During Prohibition, they thought we'd all become raging alcoholics.  We didn't.

I don't do drugs, and I wouldn't do them if they were legalized, but we'd spend a h**l of a lot less money on them, we'd have less crime, and our jails would be emptied out so that we can keep the violent criminals in there.

  6. h**l YEAH!

  7. The true story is that  Big Alcohol would lose money if they made it legal.  Big Alcohol is Lobbying and giving Congressmen and Senators huge kickbacks to keep it illegal.   The reason it is illegal to begin with is b/c there were stories made up about it that made " Men" rapists and molesters b/c it made your inhabitions go out the window.  Back in the day historically Mexiacans and Black people smoked it and they were scared the white women would be attacked.

  8. I watched a really good show on the history channel about this....turns out it was more of a racial decision back in the 20s than anything based on scientific research or fact.  Here's the deal, there were many hispanic migrant workers back then.  After a greuling 12-16 hour day working out in the fields they would relax with some smoke before leaving...well the rascist farmers didn't like them hanging around after they were done working so they started making up stories about how pot was making the workers crazy and violent and saying stuff like they were trying to rape the white girls and fight the farmers sons, etc....total bullsh*t, but you know how politics go.  Also, the rise of jazz music and the use of pot in that culture helped push the decision along, again a rascist motivation.  If you want some more interesting facts check out jack herer's book the emperor wears no clothes-subtitled the hemp bible...it's full of cool info to amaze your stoner friends!

  9. because the government can not make money off of it....

  10. In my opinion , It really does have many medical benefits.

But with any good thing, some people over do it.

If not used in strict moderation for medical purposes it is highly addictive.

My thoughts on why it's illegal:

    1. It's addictive

    2. It's too hard to standardize for them to label it a pharmaceutical drug so the big companies could make money.

    3. It would replace too many legal prescription drugs and put some pharmaceutical companies out of business.

  11. it cannot be standardized.

  12. It appears you have toasted your brain doing research.

  13. they say since our economy is declining, if it passes a point where we're desperate, they will make pot legal and make it a huge tax benefit for them

  14. Boy, i have been wondering the same thing for 20 years.

sounds like your the right kind of person to visit www.norml.org

keep asking, keep researching, keep advertising.

  15. You wrote: "...When all the research I've done indicates that it's healthy more then anything else..."

Clearly, you are not a very good researcher.

  16. nice can of worms...

Marijuana is much less detrimental than alcohol or tobacco.

I am not a pot smoker, however I do know a bit about the effects of tobacco on society which are large and carry a large health impact.

I also know that alcohol leads to many different conditions and is very addictive and detrimental to healthy relationships.

the effects of pot do not cause you to beat your wife or children, they do not make you go out on a month long drunk,

people actually drive slower and become more relaxed.

Marijuana gives you an appetite eases pain and has therapeutic value.

If the government legalized it and controlled the quality of it they would have more time to spend on more serious crimes and they also would gain financially from doing so.

  17. You sound exactly like some people I knew when I was little.

20-30 years later, you can see the mess weed made of their lives.

These guys and girls, weed smokers who defended it, haven't done much with their lives.

    They have no ambition.

They have no short term memory.

They can't get a decent job because of the drug tests.

    Smoke up, Holmes!!

  18. Because there's a ton of money to be made by fining and imprisoning people who smoke it.

  19. The pharmeceutical lobby has the government in its pocket. The cotton lobby has the government in its pocket. If marijuana was legalized the pharmeceutical companies would lose billions of dollars in sales from drugs like oxycontin and xanax. The cotton industry would be virtually whiped out due to the efficiency of the hemp plant at producing usable fiber. Thats why marijuana will never be legalized.

  20. More Healthy then anything else?

More healthy than NOT doing it?

    More healthy than an apple?

    ***EDIT***

You put with ALL the research that YOU HAVE DONE....I didnt know you had a PHD.

  21. People don't seem to realize that you do not need a PH.D to conduct research. The internet is packed full of research and articles from scholarly journals written by PHD's, although I question if that is where your research is coming from.

The fact that it is illegal is primarily a social issue, not a health issue.

Politicians do not want a bunch of stoners sitting on their couches all day discovering that the government doesn't have a good answer for the meaning of life.

Plus it gives cops something else to do.

I wouldn't smoke it if it was legal, and I don't know if I would go as far as to say it is "healthy" (because that suggests that it does something specifically good for your development other than "clear" your mind and make you happy) but it is possibly the safest illegal drug out there. I mean, what do you do when you get stoned? Video games and homework? That sounds like such a life of crime.

  22. well first of all this comment is to the ignorant people in this society such as, linktheworld219, stuart, meg, and D.M.

All the comments were really unnecessary and really comments from closed minded people that influence societies to become secluded and not enlightened by new therapies and modalities of natural remedies or natural medicine.

I concur with philiplaprarie, if marijuana was legalized the govement would make a huge profit of money with the revenue sales of this product. Pharmaceutical business will loose a lot of business and will effect the multi-billion dollar industry.

The research I have come accrossed was especially on this topic. University students doctors scientist and other licensed professionals have contributed to this study. So D.M. here is a link so you wont be so skeptical  about this research and wont answer something being pulled out of your a**.....

So really to tell you the truth, I believe marijuana should become legal. This might help the falling economy but may also increase inflation of the product...????WHO KNOWS????

  23. its illegal because the stupid government cannot tax it .. they could figure out a way though, and because people sometimes lace it with drugs that arent healthy at all

  24. oh god the story is so sad. here read this:

    http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2...

its illegal because of propaganda and racism. and now no one remembers when it was legal and everyone thinks it can kill you.

  25. Are you a scientist?   I've never met a scientist before.

  26. cos american are effing dumb. if alkies legal, weed should be too
