Why is marijuana illegal?

I mean it has killed zero people and is less dangerous than beer! America should lighen up and if someone can give me a good answer to why it is illegal (which I doubt) I dunno I'm bored

I know, it makes absolutely no sense. Especially the fact that SALVIA is still legal in a lot of states, and it messes you up more than weed (even though not for as long).

I don't understand why the GOVERNMENT can decide what I can and can't do when it's pretty harmless as long as you're smart about it. I'm not even a PERSON to them, just another number, yet they can arrest me and throw me in jail for smoking some weed in my bedroom.

I can understand getting in trouble for selling it, and I can understand getting in trouble for driving stoned (even though I do so frequently), but the fact that I could get thrown in jail for smoking weed in my ******* bedroom and then what, laughing with some friends and eating a lot, just makes me sick.

well first hemp oil was used as much as crude oil today with better results, such as 50 barrels from 1 acre; oil companies saw how easy hemp was able to be obtained and wanted no commoner to compete, paper, clothes, oil and etc... check hemp oil before the 1920's...the rockerfellers and friends lobbied to have marijuana banned and deemed to make you crazy all so crude oil which commoners had minimal access to could not be accessed by ppl like me or you and the same holds true to this day, an acre still produces 50 barrels of oil and you are right alcohol kills more ppl then a lil bit along with cigarettes but you see they haven't banned these items as they have no health benefit as opposed to mary jane

Because the government says so.  The feds' scientists keep saying that it has no medical benefit (although it is prescribed!).  If you drink 1 beer a person can go about their day, but a person who smokes one joint is impaired.  I dunno bra' but i am glad it is or else I would be out of business

It's illegal because it's dangerous and people who use it are dangerous and deserve to be wiped out of the gene pool.

You never heard of driving under the influence? A person who is high is probably just as likely to drive as recklessly as a person who is drunk? The only reason alcohol is not illegal is because everybody and their momma broke the law when the Prohibition Act was in place in the 20s. Apparently, most Americans can go without marijuana; but they can't go without alcohol. I could have a couple of alcoholic drinks and be okay; but one marijuana cigarette could alter my state of mind. When a drug starts to have significant usage, they outlaw it. They are working on outlawing Salvia now which I think can be very dangerous for teenagers.

I don't really know. There are natural things that are kind of like it that are more hallucinagetic that are legal. I don't get it.
