Why is marketing important to the success of every business?

Marketing is how you let potential customers know about your business. Without marketing it's like having a storefront on a deserted road - nobody knows you're there, and nobody comes to shop.

You know those commercials on the radio and on TV that make your eyes roll over?  It just clicked for me a little while ago about why they let this stuff on the air.  If you own a company you have to advertise.  Even if it's a bad commercial.  You have to let people know that you exist.  If you're lucky you created a memorable commercial that wins prizes but most of the time it's just to put your name out in front of people. That's it.
