  1. Oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis.

    It is the reverse of what living animals use, cellular respiration.

    Photosynthesis chemical equation:

    6CO2 + 6H2O (+ light energy) --->  C6H12O6 + 6O2

    6O2 represents the oxygen created during the process.
