  1. Mercury I don't think is shrinking, but it is definetely hot. I can tell you some facts I know off by heart:

    1. It doesn't really have an atmosphere, so it can't keep that 186 degree heat during the night as well as the day. Because earth has a thick atmosphere it can keep the heat from the day in the night!

    2. Mercury is the greek name for messenger.

3.Mercury is maybe shrinking because of the sun its probably burning the rock on mercury and it's dissolving some of the rock inot space.

  2. Just to clarify Kevin B's reply a bit, Venus actually has the hottest surface temperature, even though Mercury is closer, because Venus's atmosphere is very thick consisting of mostly sulfuric acid, creating a runaway greenhouse affect.  Surface temperatures can reach up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (hot enough to melt lead).

  3. Planet Mercury is shrinking and cooling, according to data gathered by NASA probe Messenger. The probe got within 125 miles of Mercury and found its core is made out of molten iron, which gives it a magnetic field but that is cooling off, according to Discover. The cooling of its molten iron is causing it to shrink because of its less dense state compared to that of solid iron.

The planet, which is the hottest and smallest of our solar system, has lost about one mile in diameter since data has been gathered.

  4. The earth axis is tilted,, the water that use to go to the Midwest is now going into the desert. read : Isaiah 35. Some say an asteroid came too close and  put the earth into movement, other say man's bombs set it into movement. we are not  seeing the same picture with the degree the earth has tilted.
