Different kinds of workouts give you a different build.  Short, explosive moves or low reps of weights will build bulk - look at a sprinter's upper legs or a boxer's biceps, for example.

High reps or repeated low-impact moves over a long time build tone but not bulk - look at a marathon runner's legs, for example.  Boxers generally don't want to build bulky legs - you've got to make weight and every bit counts.

Im sorry my freind but you must look agian, tyson had HUGE legs, most boxers legs look thin but if you take a close look

its all muscle, reason for that is to be able to hop around and so on

Probably because they work so hard building up their upper body strength and don't pay  much attention to working out their legs.

a lot of boxer do have this but you have missed the mark with tyson who had unusually massive legs fora boxer.

As to why boxers have thin legs its not because they don't use or build them as much.

That is looking at it the wrong way around.

The reason is they are 'naturally selected' because they already have smaller legs.

In other words the guys born with bigger upper bodies, longer arms, and more weight where it counts will go further in the sport.

are you kidding? his thighs are huge. Plus he wore those lowcut black shoes with no socks so that may be another they looked thin. but look at his thighs that is where alot of his power came from.

Because they dont need lower body strength, it is more important for them to have speed.  Thats why you see boxers always doing jump dopes and long distance running, instead of squad or other lower body workout.
