Why is mold growing in my toilet bowl?

I have a brand new house that we built it less than 5 months ago. I have noticed a black mold that grows on the water line inside my toilet bowl. This is the toilet that is most used in our house.I don't think it is a matter of housekeeping as I clean the toilets myself twice a week. Since the mold has crept up I'm cleaning it daily. I don't use any type of in the tank cleaners and use clorox toilet cleaner and a brush to clean the bowl. Any thoughts??

  1. Leave the bathroom window open and the door open, and the toilet lid up.  It's probably quite dark and damp in your bathroom and that helps the mold to grow.  Mold doesn't grow nearly so well in well-ventilated or dry conditions.

  2. For some reason I'm having that same problem this year. Never had it before and I have lived here 21 years. I use bleach to clean it with and it still comes back in a couple of days.

  3. the water can cause this it depends  on the type of water that you have ,some can be high in iron and turn your toilet orange in time , and by rule of thumb you should clean your toilet every day , it only takes a few minutes to put some cleaner and run a brush in the bowl .

  4. leave the lid up during the day. mold thrives in dark humid places. we had the same problem and it did the trick for us. give it a try.

  5. You need to buy a toilet bowl cleaner. I use Lysol cling gel. It works great and leaves my toilet bowl nice and shiny. I think you need to buy some new toilet bowl cleaner, and a new toilet brush. always rinse off your toilet brush with fresh water after each use. and store it in a dry place. Maybe buy one of those toilet brushes that come with a little holder. what's it called, a caddy? something it sits in. Clean your toilet bowl daily until the mold is gone, then clean it twice a week to keep the germs at bay. If you're not into cleaning products, could always pour white vingar into your toilet after you flush and turb off the water. pour about 5 cups full of white vingar in your toilet, leave over night. then in the morning scrub it and flush. vingar kills mold. but i really suggest lysol. it works wonders. But if none of which is working, pour straight bleach into your toilet. and leave it for a while.
