over 3000 dollars are being wasted per year on junk for a average person.

we need money to live in a house.

we need money for heat and water.

we need money for eletricity.

money gives some people power.

people get jobs that pay more money.

people buy houses that cost more money.

people spend thousands on cloths that they wear olny once each year.

people even spend money on dates, ect.

MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!!!!

i dont see why money is so important. a average person of one (no family), can live off of no more that of 800$ tops each month. with a family of 4 perhaps 1600$ tops each month. but one person can easily make over 2000$. but uses it all for himself. why are people so greedy and money hungry. i see no pleasure in money.money is just paper to me. or coins.

  1. Money is a necessity.  It's importance is irrelevant. Have you looked at the average rent of a one bedroom apartment?  $800 per month is not cutting it if the rent itself is almost that! then add on the rest of the necessities.  Money makes the world revolve......without it we would all perish.   Ask the homeless people how important money is....you would get a valuable education.  I hate to admit it but I'd  have to say  that money is high up there on the important list.

  2. Well, you can have fun living off of 800$ a week...

  3. Because the love of money is the root of all evil.

  4. Anybody with an attitude like that is living with their parents. And Mom & Dad worry about all the little annoyances in life like rent, utilities, food, insurance's, car payments, college tuition & entertainment. Ahhh, to be a slave to the ol' mighty dollar.

  5. Becasue not everyone can think like you.

  6. I agree and disagree with Nate, Money is more or less a tool for making human life easier money is actually backed by gold which is an easily tradeable substance which give money it value. When you purchase something you are actually trading a surtained amount of gold for the item you are purchasing so you are truely just exchanging one thing for another where i disagree with nate is that if you took money away the world would go into disaray. Actualy i think there would be some hard ship but truely the world would still be runable it just would be a little simpler life. How the world would change we just would not have a bench mark to set the value of an item. And the ability to trade goods would be more limited.

So an example of this would be a farmer trading chickens for feed, instead of cash for feed (which he got cash from selling his chickens)

Now to more fully answer why money is so important i would say because people like to have better things than others and like to feal a sence of superioity and that humans have a great need for making life simpler and more enjoyable.

Why those who make large amounts of money and only spend this money on themselves I dont know but they did work for that money so it is theirs and it is not our chose to determine how they spend it. Evan though I wish they would spend their money in more humanitarian sort fo ways.

  7. Because all the people do not live off the land any more . An produce all they need any more . With town or city life comes getting your food and other necessities from unknown sources . An money [ use to be gold and silver ] is needed to acquire these things .

  8. people like things that make their lives easier.  being able to afford luxeries, like a fancy dinner, a nice trip to a foreign country, or just being able to make enough to afford good health insurance for your ailing grandfather while still caring for your family.  it pays for funerals, weddings, and helps our country function.  money is necessary.  if the world was perfect, it wouldn't be.  everybody would do what they loved, ate what they wanted, did what they wanted, and everybody would be happy.  but the world, sadly, isnt perfect.  money is the root of many problems, but without it society wouldn't function in this flawed world.  many people would choose to not work and just do as they please, and without a proper workforce, our country would collapse.  it's like a concrete base of a large, incredibly valuable home.  you cant properly fix that base ,which may be cracked and weakening, without harming or destroying the home.  our civilization works the same way.  take away the money, and the world of man collapses.

  9. No, you should not love money too much, but you shouldn't be so quick to put someone else's feet into your shoes.

I like to eat, have a decent place to live (not extraordinary), travel a bit, stay warm at night (or cool). I don't spend a lot on clothes.

In my section of the country, you can't find a one bedroom apartment for $800 and if you're talking about a place for a family of four, you either talking about the projects or $3000 and up. If you own a house, you're lucky to get off with $12,000 a year. The tax on two cars is about $2500 a year. Then there's the other governments and sales taxes. I'm not complaining about them -- taxes are the price of civilization -- but someone has to pay them. The state I live in subsidizes the federal government by more than $12,000 a year beyond what comes back. In other words, for every dollar we pay the government, we get back less than half. Our money goes to pay the taxes of places like Alaska where no one pays state income or sales taxes. Instead they are paid to live there. A lot of states take out a lot more money than they put in, then squeal all the way to the bank.

Parking one car in the public lot and two people taking the train on monthly commuter tickets costs more than $800 a month. With only one person, I could cut it back to about $550 a month -- so I could sleep in my car.

Thanks to power deregulation my electric bill is triple what it was five years ago and when the power goes off there's no one to fix it.

I don't smoke, drink a glass of wine a day (at my doctor's request). I have a well, a septic tank and I pay someone $65 to cart off the garbage. The city doesn't do it in my area. The garbage collector raises his prices because the city keeps raising the tippage rate to him.

I go see my doctor when I need to and I spend a fortune in medical insurance. The Republicans are pushing through legislation to lower his Medicare office fees and those of every other doctor by 10 percent. Then they'll do it again.

I'm not in great health so I pay someone to mow the law and pick up leaves. Food prices are going up almost as fast as gasoline. I'm now paying $4.89 a gallon under the Bush-Cheney energy program.  And when I flew to a family member's funeral, I paid a $40 surcharge for fuel plus other amounts for taxes, landing fees, take off fees etc. Phone, internet and cable costs $212 a month.

If I go to a film, it's usually $9 a ticket and my wife likes to go.  If I buy a car, I'm taxed when I buy it and the payments are not cheap.

I take a lot of prescriptions. One, a single injection a week, costs $17,000 a year assuming I give it to myself. I do.

I like the idea of making money less important, but maybe we could first also convince all those other people that money doesn't matter to them.

On the ohter hand, there are people who live with their parents at 35, etc. etc.  With all due respect, I'd like to see a realistic budget that has anyone living on $800 a month. There are low cost areas, but not that low.

  10. where do you live?  a $600 a month apartment in the middle of the Nevada desert isn't going to anyone any good.  your definition of "junk" needs to be extended.  wasted food is certainly junk.  but what about a book?  you don't need books to live, but they increase the quality of life.  the same can be said of cable TV, expensive food, and even designer clothes(though I personally disagree with the last point, it is still true.)  even if money didn't exist, there are still possessions.  is it really any different to have someone mug you for $80 or to have someone steal a cow?  is it any different to lose a job or lose the land that you farm?  all money does it make life more convenient, so you don't have to lug your wheat to pay someone for some salt.  you just give the salt-seller some money, and go home with your salt.  all money is simply a representation of material goods.

  11. Well, we live in a world that thrives on it.  I don't see this trend passing ANYTIME soon.  I know, it drives me nuts too and I've asked myself the same question.

The best thing to do is just go with it.  Make wise decisions and DON'T let it run your life.  Money's important but it's also JUST money.
