  1. The love of money is the root of all evil.

    Get the quote right.

  2. Money is NOT the root of all evils... The LOVE of money is the root. Because we put first in life, that which is most important to us, and if money is more important that God, He frowns on that...

Peace and blessings from Texas <><

  3. Because it puts one individual above another due to pride and arrogance.  It creates classes, chances for learning differences, and thought that the person in more intelligent, worthy, has more power, etc.

  4. Money drives materialism.  Materialism drives greed.  Greed drives me to choose Dairy Queen over dinner at home.  Ice cream is evil.  Clearly, money, the instigator of ice cream is the foundation of all evil.

  5. I'm rich enough in wisdom to know that money isn't the root of all evils.

  6. Money is not the root of all evil, it's the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.

  7. I haven't the foggiest idea.

Pedophiles, rapists, and sociopaths are not motivated by money.

  8. Money is the root of all evel simply because it carries along greed, boastfulness, arogance, and all the above. Have you ever heard Money changes people? Of course, it's the root of all evil, that's why people lie, kill, and steal for MONEY.

  9. It's more of not understanding the nature of money and the things that it buys.  All things are impermanent, including ideas, and no one thing can ever TRULY buy you happiness.  The moment you buy something it's already starting to lose it's "newness", the more money you have/get is the same.  Those too are simply impermanent, changing, etc.  If you set your sights too high thinking all of this is going to bring you true happiness, it won't.

Cook it and see what you come up with about it.  Discussion is wonderful.

  10. Money is not the root of any evils.

I had some once and it was pretty good.

Without temperance, anything of itself can become evil.

Balance my friend, everything is balance.

Christianity says less is more. Less of everything. One reason it is not popular in a consumer society.

    All the best!

  11. It's not. It's the LOVE of money...

    1 Timothy 6:10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

  12. Money is not the root of all evil, rather, the Love of money is.  Them that trust in riches, and they who are brought under the power of it as a means of saving them.  It is the root, that is, the origin, because loving it is idolatry.  Two verses before this, we are told how to be content, saying Having food and clothes and shelter, let us be therewith content.  These are the only necessities in life, and whatever is more than these are selfish desires, which cannot qualify as a necessity.  When we live in humbleness of mind, we would not at all be looking for luxury and fashion, and the love of money would go away.

    (I Timothy.6:7-12)

  13. Money isn't the root of all evil.  The "love" of money is the root of all kinds of evil.  Human wisdom is adequate at best. God given wisdom breaks the barriers of the finite flesh. Except for Jesus Christ, Solomon was the wisest man  whoever walked this earth. He ask God for wisdom to be able to rule the kingdom wise and it was given to him.  He made the learned men of his time look excruciatingly stupid.  I ask God for wisdom daily and He gives me what I need and because it is wisdom from God, it's wisdom that you could never hope to understand unless you too are a Christian. Not bragging, just stating a fact.

1Timothy 6:10   "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."

  14. I don't think it is.  I think greed, be it for wealth, power, control, pleasure, or whatever, is the root of all evil.

  15.     The love of money is the root of all evil.  Anyhow, do you put money first before what God wants you to do with your money?  Do you tithe 10% of your gross income to the Lord

(giving it to  one of his Holy Spirit filled churches that He has ordained you to be in).  Do you give offerings to the Lord's work ( to Holy Spirit filled ministries that He has led you to ) ?  Is God first in your finances, as well as the rest of your life?  In Malachi 3:10,11,12 it says , " 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse ( the local Holy Spirit filled, correct teaching, no false doctrine church God has called you to after you prayed about it and asked Him where you should go), That there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this," Says the Lord of hosts, " If I will not open for you the windows  of heaven And pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field, Says the Lord of hosts. 12 And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land, Says the Lord of hosts.

When a person has money , are they haughty, or do they put God first and are willing to share for the work of the gospel?  Are they haughty and trust in the living God?

Instructions for the Rich in I Timothy 6: 17,18:

16  Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18  Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share. 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

  16. The bible says So.

    1 Timothy 6: 10

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Because of the love of money, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus.

1 Timothy 6: 10 : could be explained by the bad behaviour in many peoples lives. for example, prostitution, (sure it is job like any other but indecent), robbery, bribery, murder etc etc

  17. Because when you are rich and LOVE your money it goes to your head thinking you are better than everyone else and that your money can save you. If you are rich and LOVE your money you don't depend on God. You depend on money for everything. Money can split up homes too. It's the love of money is the root of all evil. There are rich people that use their money wisely and are really good people.

  18. Actually the full but often ignored quote is "the love of money is the root of all evil" which makes a little more sense, though I'm sure it's not totally accurate given that there are evils entirely unrelated to money or the love of it.

  19. It isn't, sunshine.

The LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

  20. GREED is the root of all evils. Money is just one of the many materials used in the transactions of evil will. Most people want to be rich, or powerful people with influence. A normal person can not do this without being a b*****d to his fellow man.

  21. That is just an old saying.  Like most statements which use ALL or EVERY -- they aren't usually true, 100% of the time. For one thing, you only need to find 1 exception to make the statement false.

BUT, like all old sayings or idioms, the key is the central idea which is being expressed.

Here, I think the central idea is that Money is the basis for MANY evils.

    Here are some basic examples.

Seeking money can lead to Greed.. with greed, you often times set aside your morals to get more money. Cheat people, use people, etc. So clearly, money which leads to greed can lead to numerous other evils which ultimately affect other people.

Putting the Acquisition of Money higher then your morals can lead you to behave in numerous ways which are detremental to yourself and other people. It can cause you to condone and interact with other people who are behaving in illegal activities.

Money and Materialism are linked..it takes money to get material things and having money, often times leads to desiring or acquiring material things.  Materialism can cause a person to focus too much on acquisition, again, at the expense of other people, morals, and can lead to greed.

Putting the acquisition of money as some how more important then anything else in the world can lead a person to look down at other people who don't have as much wealth, a form of pride which is generally not considered to be moral.

I'm sure we could go on and on.. but the key is that money can lead to greed, materialism, pride, and using people; something that a moral person generally doesn't do and can cause you to partake in actions which are illegal and unethical.

SO the key that the old saying is hitting on, is that Money is something that LEADS to other things.. and isn't that really the definition of a 'root'

Personally,  I think PRIDE is a more universal evil then money.  Pride can lead to even more evils and unethical behavior then money can. Money and Pride often times go hand in hand.. so differentiating the two can be tricky.

  22. It is the love of money which is the root of all evil surely (if you believe St Paul). Many people struggle with intellectual obstacles to faith. Often real faith comes to life when people start to generously dispose of their excess income, and people experience a real presence of God's peace.

  23. Because the church wants your money.  easiest way to get you to purge your money is to make it "the root of all evil."

now, please deposit your "root of all evil" in this collection basket.

  24. Money itself is neutral, it's a medium of exchange.

The quote is: "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." Nuance: money in itself is fine. But don't make it the centre of your existance.

  25. it's greed, not money. Money can be used to measure greed, but so can other possessions.

The concept of money is really useful. If you don't believe it, try to find somebody who is willing to swap a kitchen table for a wheelbarrow full of eggplants.

  26. Its not. It is the love of money that is the root of all evil.

  27. Being greedy is root of evil, wisdom tooth

    NOT money it self

  28. because ppl worship the almighty dollar

  29. World without money would be awful.

  30. Money = Power

Power = Greed for more Power

Greed for more Power = Evil

  31. Its the "love of money"....mis quoting Scripture REALLY makes you look ignorant.

I suggest you LEARN the Bible BEFORE you attempt to try to discuss it intelligently.  DUH?
