Why is multiculturalism forced upon people in America ?

I am European and I have noticed that it happens in Europe aswell, although aggressivity results from it my country.

In my opinion mutliculturalism is just another word for "culture murdering" and the forced "mixing of races". Every race / culture is different( and beautiful and that should be celebrated !

Just wondering an American opinion about this.

PS : I know people will bring in the argument that there is only one race and that is the human race. This is not the point of the discussion and my views and yours on this topic should not influence your answer. THANK YOU!

  1. Can you be more specific?  What is being forced?

Ahhh...affirmative action and such are intended to offset real or perceived inequites in society at large.  Part of the concern is that there is a large and growing gap between the "haves" and the "have nots".  In the interest of 'fairness' and 'opportunity', some multicultural blending occurs, where "have-nots" are provided financial assistance to allow their kids to attend universities, etc.  Did I get it this time?

  2. I think the phrase "greater of the whole" applies here. Not sure if our government really knows the difference.

    Wow...that has got me thinking.....

    Sorry, no more right now.

  3. I can see your points about "cultural differences". Maybe some cultures don't mix very well with others. But, I disagree with your concept of "race" which I feel is a relic of the past and modern science does not agree with your belief in race.

Among horses and dogs, mixed breeds are usually the most virile, evolved and sharp. The same logic exists for human beings as well. According to modern-day scientific wisdom, the concept of "race" is incorrect because human beings have always been mixing since the beginnings of time. Slavic Russians/East Europeans/Finns have Oriental Chinese mixture. White Afrikaans of South Africa have some African genetic ancestry. And here in this report, one-third of White Americans have recent African ancestry between 2-20% African roots

Of course, all human beings can be traced to Mitochondrial Eve that existed in the horn of Africa some 100,000 years ago. The "physical" differences between races can be explained using the salt, sugar, malt syrup analogy.

Salt and Sugar are both "White" in appearance and malt syrup is "black".

But, malt syrup and sugar have more in common, CHEMICALLY than sugar can have with salt.

Similarly, a tall African may have more genetic commonality with a tall European than a short European. By conjoining both Europeans in the category of "White" race, we are committing a general error.

These arguments invalidate any need for racial beliefs. Just my two pence :)

  4. First off, America was founded by many races. Second how long have you been a racist. Mixing races is the only way to not inbread now and days. h**l we can't all have an inbread Queen.

  5. I am first going to disagree with Grace and r_son1. The former says Americans welcome our immigrants, and that's pretty far from the truth. When Irish first started showing up in American they were treated the same or worse than slaves. And how quickly Grace forgets how strongly we try to keep out Mexicans and Cubans. The latter said America was founded by different races. Since when are thousands of WASPS (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants) "different races;" that's pretty much one.

Now to answer your question. We are forced multiculturalism because for a while, no always, our country has believed in, or at least had to legally provide for, equal rights and opportunities for all. Those of the multicultural mind-set feel that if races don't intermingle, work with, and, in the upper-stratosphere of hope, learn from one another, the WASPS will continue to get all the advantages. I would agree with this to a point, but I doubt a millionaire Caucasian and a poor Latino can really learn much from one another in a lifetime that would change the world as a whole. However, if groups start open dialogue with one another, change will come, just very slowly. It is that change that multiculturists seek, they just try to make it happen too quickly.

  6. We in the US have a saying.  "The US is the great melting pot of the world."   Our melting pot  takes the best, brightest and strongest attributes from every incoming society purifies them adding them into our own.

Every different society assimilating into US society adds to the melting pot becoming purified into its strongest, purest form.  This adds to the strength, beauty and honor of the US today.

We are of many backgrounds but only one culture.  We are Americans.

We of the US welcome our immigrants.  They are our future.

  7. You seem to forget that America, as we know it today, would not exist if it were not for multiculturalism.
