Why is my 1998 mustang's coolant engine light is going off?

the coolant is not low but the battery looking light with an x on it is turning on... i suck at this car stuff... please help!

In the reservoir there is a float device that tell the computer if it is low. When this hangs up it will turn the light on even if the reservoir is filled to its proper leve. Cleaning usually resolves the problem if not , get a new float device or sending unit. While the engine is cool, remove the radiator cap and confirm that it is full of coolant.

that light means that you have a charging system problem.

sounds like the belt may be missing or broken

i would have the radiator flushed then replace the radiator cap.mine did the same thing after the flush n cap the light never came on again

If you have a battery light on then I would go to a service center and have them check your charging system.
