i just got a fujitsu lifebook S6520, and two hours after using it, it started to slow down and hang every 5-10 minutes, after which it would start working again as usual, then hanging again. Or else, it would take forever for any button i press to react. I'm running on windows vista, and the problems started after i loaded all the usual software (microsoft office, norman antivirus, windows live messenger, creative zen program). what can i do to solve this problem? one solution i thought of was to do a legal downgrade to windows XP, but im hoping that there is another way to go about solving this problem without having to spend money. thanks!

  1. To solve the problem without spending the money: Get ubuntu.

    shipit.ubuntu.com

They will ship you a copy of ubuntu linux free of cost to your residence or office and it is legally permitted to copy or distribute it infinite times free or charged.

There you dont need to run your "usual" antivirus, which gives you 400% speed boost. And the firestarter firewall uses 0.0001% cpu. Basically, you will be able to live again.

  2. I just came across a site that sends you a laptop for free! I'm ordering mine right now, it's a Sony VAIO and it looks really hot!

  4. its alll the bloat ware on it. when you get a new laptops or any new oem computer.

you should reinstall a base install of windows.. than add the programs you want. not what the fab want you to buy in three months.

  5. Bring it back and have a tech look at it. You have some huge resource hogs installed and running in the background Norton uses a lot of system resources as well as all the other programs that came with the computer. On top of that if you are opening too many programs at once it will cause your computer to slow to a crawl.

Do not down grade to XP Microsoft is only going to support it until mid 2009. You will have to learn Vista eventually no matter what anyone says about it.

  7. Had the same problem and so have many others. Vista seems to be the problem, especially with the laptops. Is there a bunch of other junk software pre-installed on the laptop? You might want to do a custom install of Vista to get rid of the pre-installed junk, or downgrade to XP (worked for me). Good luck!

  8. Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
