Why is my 3G nano's center button not working right?

Question

When I press the center button, it either doesn't respond or registers more than one hit. As you can guess, it's pretty hard to control anything in this manner, let alone reset the darned thing when it crashes.

What's more, I've noticed that I can wiggle the click wheel a couple of micrometers in any direction, as well as the center button.

Is there a fix for this or is the Apple Store the only route?

I think that is a hardware problem. The Apple Store should fix it for you.
