Why is my AVG ANTIRUS not updating?

Question

Whe I try to get automatic updates for this free AVG ANTIRUS PROGRAM I get the message: UPDATE FAILED

A .BIN FILE IS MISSING

what is wrong and what can I do to fix this? it use to work fine just until today.

maybe a virus is already in ur comp n is blockin the files so i suggest u pay for a service maybe u downloaded music n that brought n the virus

every1 with AVG is currently having this problem

dont worry it will be fixed in a day or two

once avg realizes the issue

dont worry ur computer is still protected

Have you tried restarting your computer?

Also you might want to try to uninstall AVG AntiVirus and reinstalling it.

I had the same problem but got it to work.

First fire up AVG and click on Update Now. Then, when the list of updates is shown in the popup window, click on the link to tell you more. This will take you to a list of the updates you're trying to update.

Click on and save to your computer the all updates except the last one (IAVI: / 1616) - because it isn't there. Then cancel the update, and instead click on Tools->Update from Directory and browse to wherever you downloaded the file.

That should do the trick... Hope it works for you too!!!

You problem is Avg not Update please follow me to fix  open you Avg in the icon then press Tools then press Update from directory then pres My Computer then press Program files then press file Avg then press AVG8 press ok the file was missing will return soon, then let me know you problem is finish. thanks

Currently the update for AVG Free v8 is corrupted... you will have to wait for AVG Technologies to address the issue with the update.

Reporting the issue again by other users here will not do any good util it is resolved.

The updates that your AVG currently have will still provide the protection it is setup to detect. In otherwords, not being able to get this update will not make your AVG Free ineffective and as soon as AVG Tech resolves the issue you will be able to update to the current virus definitions at that time.

So in short... please do not post to report the issue, its already known. Also please be patient until AVG Technologies can address the issue
