Why is my Blackberry not synchronizing & how do I fix this?

Hi,

I have a Blackberry which has been setup to synchronize automatically with two of my Outlook calendars when connected to my PC using a USB cable. While synchronizing it brings up the Blackberry Desktop Manager along with a screen which shows total number of records in the calendar and the number of records that have been copied.

At present the total records from both my calendars are over 6000. While synchronizing upon reaching 3678 sharp, the synchronization stops and Blackberry Desktop Manager crashes.

On the BBDM, I have configured synchronization to take records from 7 days prior to 365 days in advance but it still does not help.

On my Blackberry, I tried to delete the previous records I had by viewing agenda and delete prior in the calendar but it did not change any thing.

Please advice.

  1. We used to have this with the Desktop Manager. Far as I know, there's a limitation on the amount of entries, and I expect it is to do with the amount of memory in the blackberry, though you have not said what model of blackberry you use.

The question I would ask, do you really really need to see 365 days of meetings ahead? Most would not look a week ahead let alone a month, and your calendar seems very busy.

Start by reducing the time frame to around maybe 3 months, and increase it one month at a time until you get the crash event.

Then, go back at least one month and make that your max date, so you cater for meetings in between.

Our solution final solution was switching to Wireless Sync for the calendar, instead of the DM which worked a treat for us.

You've not mentioned though, whether in work (exchange) environment or if its "personal" (internet e-mail)
