Why is my BoA account showing my starting balance before i spent half of it?

i had $1000 on monday, i spent $500 and checked my account info online, and it showed "$500 remaining"

now i look on wednesday, and it says "$1000 remaining"

?

  2. It may not have debited out yet.

    if you spent after close on monday (or if the store didn't close out the information until after close of bank business day), the earliest it would post would be tuesday meaning the earliest it would post online would be wednesday. I think the online info updates the previous day's info at 3am the next day.

    if it didn't debit out right away (for example, if you used your debit card as a credit card or you wrote a check), it would take a couple days.

    I hope that makes sense.

  3. ~~A debit usually reads right away on the online banking. When your debit card is used as a credit card then it may appear right away, but then disappear if the paperwork isn't received right away. Always deduct if from your balance when you look and it's not there as it will come back through and be deducted again. My son has paid numerous overdraft fees, becausse he would see it there, not realize it was gone and the money was returned to his account, just to have it debited again in a couple of days. I try and get him to use a register, but he's too lazy and goes by the visual balance online-and that is a costly wasy to keep a checkbook!~~
