Why is my IP adress the same if im on two different computers?

Ok, on my desktop and my laptop it has the same ip adresses....how? My laptop is connected thru Wifi...how can I make them have different IP addresses? I had check on whatsmyip.com

  1. YOU MIGHT BE GETTING CONFUSED WITH THE DEFAULT GATEWAY WHICH IS SIMILAR IN BOTH COMPUTER. THE IP ADDRESS WILL DEFENITELY BE DIFFERENT IN TWO COMPUTERS.  


  2. On your LAN, they have different IPs, but you are behind a NAT, so you have the same public IP to the world. This is done to conserve IP addresses. Unique IPs cost money.

  3. They are using the routers IP address to get to the internet. Inside of your internal network they have distinct IPs.

  4. When you go to whatsmyip, that shows you your external ip address. That's the connection between the outside world and your modem. Then that ip address gets converted at your modem/router to another ip so that each computer gets its own different local ip (usually 192.168.x*x.x*x) to be used in your local area network
