I checked the power and the power to the unit is good. The unit sounds as if it is attempting to work as about every couple of minutes you can hear it attempting to work, but then you hear a "click" at the end of every attempt. I'm about to call for service but was hoping there might be a cheaper and easier fix. I have also, checked the owner's manual and there is nothing concerning this problem in there.

  1. The clicking sound is from the compressor starting system, most cases the relay is cooked, ic1 relay, shut off power to the unit and remove the relay off the compressor and shake it if you hear a loose sound the relay is bad, in some cases the compressor can have a open winding.

  2. maybe u refrigerator gets motor stuck or the gas already empty that why it make sound try to service it by u'r self

  3. The click you are hearing is the external overload opening when it attempts to start and is unable and pulling too many amps and overheating. Then it will close when cooled and do the same thing again.

The compressor could be defective. You'll have to get it checked out.

  4. It's hard to be certain without actually seeing the patient, but it could be that the compressor start relay has failed, and the motor is going off on its internal overload (overtemperature protection).  The relay is available from an appliance parts store or Sears for a few dollars - much less than a service call.  You'll need the freezer model & serial number, and possibly the compressor model and serial (on a label on the compressor body).  The unit should have a wiring schematic diagram showing the relay.  It's rather small, but very important.
