Why is my LAN disconnected?

i just got my laptop about 3 months ago

  1. You'll need to provide more information to get specific help for your issue.

    Example:

    - What operating system are you getting?

    - Please provide any symptoms, or error messages you are getting.

    If WindowsXP, go in to the control panel and "Network Connections".

    (You might have to right click on 'Network Connections' and click 'Open')

    In the "Network Connections" window, go to "View -> Details" from the drop down menus (to show more details for each of your connections).

    There will be a "status".  You can also right click on and entry and 'repair', or 'enable', etc.

    Check the Ethernet cable.

    Check what is plugged in to both ends (PC on one end, Router on the other?)

    If you have any other machines with network connections - test those using the same Ethernet cable, etc.


  2. try plugging the plug back in!
