I have an at risk symbol on the Norton security icon. It suggests that my Phishing protection is off (it is on). How do I clear the symbol and still retain the icon for future warnings?

  1. Hi Chas,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your question.

The notification you are receiving is telling you that the Phishing protection feature has been disabled.  This can be caused by a corrupted installation, an infection, or a software conflict.

First, open the main Norton Internet Security window via the "Start" menu. Next, click on "Run LiveUpdate" in the left pane of the window.  After LiveUpdate has completed downloading and installing updates, restart your computer in Windows Safe Mode, launch Norton Internet Security and then perform a "Full System scan" to check for infections.

When the scan is complete, please follow the instructions in the following document to ensure that your settings are correct.

You may also need to change the settings in Internet Explorer as well.

  2. It is impossible to clear the symbol unless the aliens decide it wants to be cleared. In short, it's out of your hands.
