Ok, I understand that Oscars change color when they are angry, excited... But, we have had this oscar for years and all of a sudden he is half discolored! Only one side of his body, the front half is a grey sickly color and the back half is the blackish color he usually turns when angry ect. Is he going to die? I have NEVER seen him do this before and it is not changing back. It has been this way for about 2 weeks.

  1. How long have you had him? I've heard of fish losing color as they grow older? but i dont have any experience with oscars.

Edit: i looked it up and it says oscars do change colors as they mature.... but if he starts acting sickly i would definilty post a new question with his new symptoms. keep an eye on him.

  2. Have you added anything recently? How big is your tank? How often do you do a water change? What are your amonnia, nitrite and nitrate levels? its almost impossible to diagnose what is wrong with him without knowing what kind of conditions he lives in.
