Why is my PC only downloading half a file?

Question

Everytime I try to download something it gets to 50% & says its finished & if I try & open it it says 'file corrupt' or something similar, Why?

That shouldn't be happening but if you're using dial-up it's more likely to happen. It's also more likely to happen if you use Internet Explorer since it doesn't have a proper download manager. Firefox and Opera are two web browsers that have built-in download managers. If you need to use Internet Explorer you should get Download Accelerator Plus or a similar software...download managers are more reliable at completing downloads, especially when using dial-up internet.

Do a basic computer Restart

If this fails to solve your problem, then:

Start>Accessories>System Tools> and then Restore back to the date previous to the problem, then Restart

This way you are troubleshooting with a clean slate

Note, this does not remove documents, but basically resets your Registry Keys back to a previous date
