I have a 2001 ford escort and was trying to change the pcv valve. i bought the part from the dealership but it only came with the valve not the elbow. When I installed the new piece I reused the elbow and hose. Now there is a variant hissing noise, coming thought the elbow. what is this, how bad is it?

  1. its probably got small crack in it causing this too happen, check it and se if it does, you can buy this part from a parts store,ad that will probably solve the problem with it,good luck.

  2. You have a vacuum leak.  The good news- you know where it is.  The bad news- it can affect the performance of your car, especially at idle.  If it doesn't look like the original, take it back- they may have given you the wrong part.  Take the old one with you, so it can be matched up.

  3. check the elbow for holes, sometimes new PCV valves hiss like that. it did on our chevy blazer
